It sounds like the orifice in the tip may be a little too small for propane. While acetylene will burn in the smallest tips propane needs a slight larger tip to work. I use butane torches so this is a total guess but in the add it states it has a pencil tip. When these torches are inverted, the liquid propane works its way through the torch and extinguishes the flame.
